Academy Membership
Members of the Academy of Educators for the Gifted, Talented, and Creative consist of professional educators who have demonstrated commitment to educational excellence for exceptionally able students in Colorado. Members include classroom teachers, gifted education specialists, administrators, psychologists, counselors, and others. Since the inception of the Academy, a new Class of members is inducted each year. The Class of 1992 included Founding Members.
Membership in the Academy is open to any qualified professional educator of the gifted, talented and creative who can document qualifications listed below. Documentation is submitted in a professional portfolio divided into sections for each qualification criterion.

Qualifications for Membership
- A current or former professional educator in the education and development of gifted, creative, and talented students, evidenced by current calendar year letter of recommendation from a past or present employer or
administrative leader. Proof of current or former employment, including specification of the type of work. Evidence include a letter or agency letterhead or comparable evidence. - Minimum of 9 semester hours (12 quarter hours) of graduate course work specifically addressing the education of gifted students, with no more than 3 credit hours from conference course work as documented by a certified transcript.
- Minimum of three years substantial practical experience with gifted youth
- Evidence of substantial service or contribution to gifted and talented education
